Cooking Demos with Lift Up Vikes and Viking Food Co!
Join us for a unique cooking demonstration that celebrates fresh, local ingredients straight from our Recreation Center rooftop garden. In collaboration with Lift-Up-Vikes Food Pantry and Viking Food Co. our class will guide you through the process of transforming these everyday cooking items and seasonal produce into delicious, easy, and nutritious meals. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or just need some fresh recipe ideas, this class offers hands-on experience, practical tips, and creative recipes. Plus, learn about the important work Lift-Up-Vikes does in our community and how we can all contribute to reducing food waste and supporting those in need. Don’t miss this opportunity to cook with purpose and connect with others who share a passion for good food.

Horticulture tours
Want to see what types of plants we have on campus? Want to get your steps in? Want to go on a guided tour of campus with some friends or classmates? Join Tour lead, Tropical Tim from the Grounds Crew for a Horticulture Tour around campus. During this walk, you will learn about different types of plants on campus led by the person who knows them best, Tim!
Horticulture Tours will be scheduled based on request. Please keep in mind that these must take place before 1:00 pm if you would like to schedule a tour. Do you have a favorite part of campus? Wendy Park beach cleanup
Come on an urban adventure to Wendy Park and join us in a collaboration with the Alliance for the Great Lakes’ Adopt-a-Beach program once again to help keep Cleveland beaches clean! We will be co-hosting a beach cleanup at Wendy Park on Sunday, September 28th from 2pm to 4 pm. Participants do not need to bring their own gear. Please join us in keeping Wendy Park and its beach clean!
There is no cost for this event. Join us outside and help out your community!

Looking for an outdoor activity but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered! Take a look at our map for ideas all within 30 minutes of CSU’s campus. The map includes parks, beaches, birding locations, cycling trails and trailheads, campgrounds, scenic overlooks, fishing, Lake Erie access points, nature centers, and skating areas. This map is meant to serve as an idea bank of outdoor activities near Cleveland. Make sure to do your research about current conditions and activity difficulty before you go!
