Overview
Each session is facilitated by highly motivated and energetic students and professionals, all of which are required to be CPR, AED, and First Aid certified. In addition, all staff are trained on current child-related topics and concerns. The safety of your child is our top priority. Your kids will have a blast with us at the Rec! Some fun things to expect from our camps; large and small group games that will teach our campers various new skills and activities, the importance of sportsmanship, and instill the concept of teamwork! Arts and crafts, swimming and a variety of special guests that will allow our campers the ability to try new things in a fun, safe and accepting environment!

Summer Camp

Enrollment for Summer Camp 2024 opens MONDAY, MARCH 4, 2024.

Ages 5-14
If enrolled in this option, you are limited to 3 days per week. Unused days cannot be moved to other weeks of enrollment. Enrollment in this option will be limited to 10 campers per week.

CSU Rec Summer Camp 2024 Weekly Themes
Week 1: May 28 – May 31 Start of Summer Bash!
Start off the summer the right way at the CSU Recreation Center! Throughout the week you’ll be playing camp favorites such as Yoshi, Capture the Flag, Kingpin, and more! On Friday we will be having a Start of Summer Bash including pizza, prizes, & more!
Week 2: June 3 – June 7 Carnival Week
Come one, come all! The carnival has returned to CSU once again! Get ready for some clowning around. Themed crafts and games will be played in preparation for our big carnival on Friday! Don’t miss out on some carnival fun!
Week 3: June 10 – June 14 Around the World
This week we have a fun way to keep your feet on the ground but still explore the globe! We will “visit” a new country each day of the week with games and crafts themed around that country. Don’t miss this chance to take a trip abroad without ever leaving Cleveland!
Week 4: June 17-18, June 20-21 Adventure Week
Gear up and get ready for an adventure! Explore different aspects of nature, camping, and other outdoor activities. Join us to learn more about venturing through the outdoors and have fun while doing it!
Week 5: June 24 – June 28 Water Week
This week we are making a SPLASH at camp. Swimsuits and towel are a MUST as we slip and slide into one of the most popular camp weeks! Enjoy crafts, games and buckets of fun here as we take a “staycation”. Don’t get beat from the heat!
Week 6: July 1 – July 3 Detective Week
I spy with my little eye a mystery that needs solved! Is your child a true detective? Join us this week and find out! Each detective will create their own detective badge, go through spy training and help solve a mystery scavenger hunt! We need all the top detectives we can get!
Week 7: July 8 – July 12 Got Games?
Bring your favorite board games to LIFE! Your child will get to be their own game piece in a life-size board game. This week will be full of games – both big and small. You will be SORRY! to miss out on this week.
Week 8: July 15 – July 19 Mystery Week
Each day is a different theme… I’ve said too much! Be prepared for a week full of surprises around every corner.
Week 9: July 22 – July 26 Science Week
Those that are interested in science and experiments – this week is for YOU! Don’t miss out on a fun week filled with various activities and experiments to spark your inner scientist!
Week 10: July 29 – August 2 Viking Olympics Week
Get ready to face off against your fellow campers…and your counselors! Viking Olympics is BACK and we’re ready to crown a new champion! Bring your A-game to camp this week, you won’t want to miss this crazy competition!
How to Register
HEADS-UP! Registration for each week closes the WEDNESDAY before that week begins.
Registration and a deposit or payment in full are required for each individual week to secure your child’s spot. You do not need to commit to the entire 10-week summer camp program; pick and choose the weeks that work for you! We recommend registering online below. Visit the online portal to login or create an account. If you need help creating an account for the first time, find our step-by-step guide in the “Additional Information” section!
After registering, find our 2024 Enrollment Form below under the “Additional Information” section. Download the form, fill it out for each child, and email it to Mackenzie Lamar at m.lamar@csuohio.edu. We need a form on file for each child before the start of camp.
Also, we recommend reading over our Parent Handbook below as it covers all policies, day-to-day instructions and details, refund options, etc., for our camp programs!
We are an Ohio ACE Service Provider
All of our day and seasonal camp offerings are now supported by the Ohio Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) program! Visit the ACE Ohio page, search for “Cleveland State University Recreation Center Camps and Swim Lessons” to file your claims for participating in our program!
