Prep for the Race: 12-Week Training Programs

If you’re new to running, don’t fret! These programs are built for runners of all fitness levels, especially new runners, to help you prepare for either the Hermes 10 Miler or 4 Miler race. The focus is on gradually building endurance while keeping training approachable, flexible, and enjoyable.

The training programs are structured in a way that allows you to meet your body where it’s at. For example, you can feel free to walk portions of your runs! You’ll also see optional runs built in as a low-pressure way to help create momentum or prioritize rest when needed.

Race Day Timeline

7:00am:

  • Bag Check begins inside the CSU Rec Center (closes at 7:50 am)
  • Race Day Packet Pickup begins inside the CSU Rec Center (only for those who paid for this option) 

7:40am: Zeus’ Kid’s Lightning Dash starts

8:00am: 10 Miler and 4 Miler races start

9:15am:

  • Post-Race Party at Viking Public House begins
  • Age group and overall awards recognized

10:30am: Course closes and runners will be directed onto the sidewalk for the remainder of the event. 

Packet Pick-Up at the CSU Rec Center

Runners will have multiple options for picking up their race packets. When registering, runners MUST select one of the listed options: packet mailing, early packet pick-up, or race morning packet pick-up. Info about pick-up at the CSU Rec Center is below, but for FAQs and details about other early packet pick-up options, please visit the 10 Miler race website.
